Hey guys, in this short Lesson we are going to look at one of the most common verbs in the Spanish Language !! Specifically, the standard -ar verbs. There is another set of verbs called irregular verbs. They are a little more complicated and we will reserve a Lesson for those on another date.

So that you can really grasp verb conjugation, lets first take a look and define the ‘ infinitive ‘ form. The infinitive form is the part of the verb that will stay the same during a conjugation. An example in English would be “to talk”. Talk, talking, talked all contain “talk” so it is quite evident that it is in the infinitive form !.

So lets learn easy spanish and use some examples to make this easier to understand and clearer:

‘Hablar’ which means to ‘talk’

‘Yo hablo’ is equivalent to ‘I talk ‘

‘Tu hablas’ means ‘You talk’

‘El habla’ is equivalent ‘He talks’

Now are you able to see how the verb “hablar” can change depending on it’s usage? At first it might be a little hard to understand. But continue to repeat the words out loud until it finally gets ingrained in your head.

And make note that these rules are applicable to most any verb ending in -ar. To make things clearer to you , let us use hablar again to make this evident. And take a look at what happens to the -ar part with every conjugation.

Hablar which means To talk

Yo = Hablo

Tu = Hablas

El = Habla

Nosotros = Hablamos

Vosotros = Hablais

Ellos = Hablan

Now was that pretty easy or what ?? Using the rules from above, you can now conjugate any verbs in Spanish that end in -ar !!

Hope you are getting something out of these Lessons. These spanish courses are short but sweet and will give you a solid foundation when you are ready to really commit to learning how to speak spanish in a totally fluent manner.

Speaking Spanish can seem daunting at first but once you dive in head first you will find it gets easier and easier as time goes by.

Now vamos amigos. Which means lets go friends !! ;)
